My name is Fatima Rodrigues, I am a graphic designer based in Long Island, New York. I graduated in 2012 from Loyola University Maryland with a bachlor's degree in Communication with a concentration in Digital Media. Thanks to the well rounded education I received at Loyola, I was able to rediscover my passion for art and design after many years of focusing on academics. I realized that I'd been stifling my creativity and quickly changed my career course from business to graphics.
Attending a small liberal arts school with a modest graphic design department, I was fortunate enough to feel like a "big fish in a little barrel." During my time at Loyola, I interned at the campus television station and was able to serve as the Design Editor of two different on-campus publications. I was also afforded the opportunity to intern at Apprentice House, the only student-run publishing company in the country.
After graduation I wanted to continue my education in a more competitive climate. I pursued a certificate degree at the Pratt Institute in Manhattan. There, I was reinvigorated by my experienced professors and inspired in the urban climate. In recent years I have mostly done freelance graphic design work. Currently I am employed as a Production Specialist at Richner Communications, a newspaper company that publishes more than 20 local papers on Long Island and in the Bronx. I have an interest in all areas of graphic design, in particular, editorial design/layout and photo editing. I am still looking to find my niche in the world of graphic design and enjoying discovering every new facet of the print and digital worlds.
